CAMERA GIMBAL
Project Overview
I designed and developed a simplified face-tracking gimbal camera system that automatically keeps users centered within the frame. This module was created as a standalone project but also serves as a critical component for integration into larger projects, such as the SAMI Robot.
Process
Programmed control logic using Arduino modules
Designed and fabricated gimbal components in SolidWorks, manufactured via 3D printing
Integrated Google MediaPipe for real-time face detection and tracking
Linked AI pose-tracking outputs to gimbal actuation for continuous alignment
Results
The camera tracks and centers on the user’s face in real time
If no user is detected, the system returns to a neutral home position until a new subject enters the frame
Played a critical role in the SAMI Robot project by stabilizing the robot’s head and ensuring the user remained in frame during interactions
