MIMIC ROBOT
SAMI robot used to continue development
Project Overview
As part of my Applied Robotics course, I contributed to the continued development of the SAMI Robot, an interactive robot designed to provide companionship and entertainment for elderly individuals and children with special needs. Our team focused on developing a mimic program as the foundation for integrating a future Simon Says–style game.
Process
Implemented Google MediaPipe for pose tracking to extract real-time body movement data
Designed camera-tracking components in SolidWorks (face-tracking gimbal project)
Developed a communication interface between Python and Arduino for synchronized control
Results
Enabled the robot to mimic user movements from a 2D perspective
Integrated a tracking camera system that keeps the user centered in the frame during motion
Skills Used:
Python
C++
Google Body Tracking AI
CAD (Solidworks)
3D printing
